Birthday Girl!

Today its my turn to be the birthday girl - I can't believe I'm actually 34, it sounds so grown up! I definately think that my 30s are my best years so far, for so many reasons, and I feel very contented in myself and my life.

Unfortunately Stu won't be home tonight, or tomorrow, so he gave me my birthday presents last night, all placed in a lovely linen bag.  A truly lovely selection of all the things I love - chocolate, fluffy socks, pampering goodies and Emma Bridgewater polka dots! What a very lucky lady I am.

Mum came over and we have had a lovely day out at Woodlands Garden Centre, and a delicious lunch there, and then a piece of birthday cake and a cuppa when we came home. Lovely x

Another project...

I decided to see how easily the front wall would come down on Friday. I started off by taking some of the rendering off at the back, just to see the state of the bricks - answer v damp. Then I had a go at taking some of the top bricks off, they came off reasonably easily. The next lot of bricks however have not proved as easy to remove so it may take a little longer than planned to dismantle.  My plan is to remove a layer a day, 2 is a bonus.

Here is how it looked at the end of Saturday evening ....

I didn't do any today (sunday) due to other arrangements but I'm really hoping to get it all down by the end of the bank holiday - watch this space ...

Party Time

We are really enjoying the Spring Sunshine - long may it last!

We had a party yesterday afternoon, the children had a great time and enjoyed joining in with the games and eating lots of party food.

The children were outside digging in the sandpit in their pyjamas and coats at 8am this morning!

Its days like this that I am so grateful to be a home educating mum and we can make the most of the weather and the opportunity to learn outside.

Happy Easter!

We've had a lovely day, despite the fact that I was at work this morning. My colleague bought the children a little egg with a Makka Pakka egg cup, so boiled eggs and soldiers were immediately requested for lunch!

After a fun easter egg hunt, the rest of the afternoon was spent with family. Stu's parents, brother and sister came over for dinner, and we all had a lovely time.

After ....

At the reception

My lovely meal - Spinach and Ricotta lasagne - it was delicious!

Phil and Becca's beautiful wedding cake - lots of very pretty cupcakes

Just before the wedding
Our table - everything looked so pretty
The brand new Mr & Mrs Newton!!

Phil and James the night before the big day - Phil was totally chilled out

The "lads" enjoying a drink and a barbecue the night before

Becca at her Bridal Shower at Deborah's house
This was our table at the bridal shower. Mine was the blue and white cup, and even better - we got to take it home as a lovely keepsake.

Amazing America!

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in sunny Florida, with Mum, Dad and my youngest brother James. This was not just any ordinary holiday though - we were there for the Wedding of Phil and Becca.

The wedding was fabulous.  Phil and Becca both looked wonderful, the sun shone, everything went smoothly and the food was delicious.  We were made to feel very welcome during our holiday there, especially by Becca's lovely family, and the villa we stayed in was amazing - we even had a pool!!

"Grandma" Wells very kindly looked after Noel and April for me - and by all accounts they had a great holiday - they even managed a trip to the beach. Noel enjoyed it so much he is still sleeping on his "readybed" at home.

Once I get over my jetlag I can start to look forward to James and Hannah's wedding in July - hoorah!
