The little things that children do

Its been a while since I posted because in all honesty I've had a terrible week, which I won't go into now but sadly it involves the loss of my Paternal Grandfather.

Children are very perceptive and I have been open with them about my feelings and the situation, so they decided to make me a little something to cheer me up. A lovely pond complete with lily pad and tree.

Driving on the chocolate road

Somehow the children went from playing tea-parties this morning (it was Kenny's birthday) to driving their "lorry" along a road made of chocolate.

We have had so much use out of this cardboard box, its been a lorry, aeroplane, fire engine, train etc. We even have a little bean bag in there to make it more comfortable! I love the fact that the children are still happy to play such lovely "childlike" games and we have certainly had our money's worth out of the box!

Look what I made Grandpa!

I had the rare luxury this morning of sleeping in until 8am! April was still asleep, and Noel played quietly by himself when he woke up, rather than coming in for a cuddle which he usually does.

I woke up and made myself a cuppa and came back upstairs, to find a very proud little boy standing waiting to show me what he made - all by himself. He asked me to take a photo to show to Grandpa - so here it is. (Its not very clear from the photo but its a backhoe loader)

Happy New Year!

Many apologies for not updating the blog sooner, I've been quite ill over the last couple of weeks or so and in all honesty I haven't really given the blog a great deal of thought. In fact, coupled with the snow I've been a bit of a hermit, only really going out when needs must.
The children have been great, in fact I think they have rather enjoyed the large number of pyjama days we have had lately! It is at times like this I am very grateful to be a home educating mum, fitting in pockets of reading and writing here and there and cuddling up in front of the fire reading stories together instead of being out on the "school run".
As promised, here are some more pictures from Christmas.
We always open one present Christmas eve -
here they are opening a present from Linda and Vince
