Rainbows and Seedlings

We've really been enjoying the spring sunshine lately. Tonight, after school, Noel and April planted out some seeds. They are now in a cosy spot in the house to see if we can have any luck germinating them -they were my Grandads and are out of date but whether that will make any difference I have no idea - but there's only one way to find out!

Poor little Mini is full of cold and not herself at all

After tea April was at Rainbows. It has made such a difference to her confidence, she didn't even take a cuddly tonight with her, she just kissed me goodbye at the door and went skipping off. They were enjoying a circus themed evening with juggling, balancing, games and cake decorating. She decorated these lovely clown cakes too.

Happy Tuesday everyone and I hope the sun is shining wherever you are xx

April's Rainbow Promise

April is a very proud girl today as she made her promise at Rainbows. She got a lovely metal badge and a certificate and she was very, very proud. Last night Noelie and I made her some cakes as a surprise and we had a little tea party for her before she went.

I just took this very quickly as I wanted to watch

Spring has arrived!

The weather here has been lovely today, really warm and sunny. April and I did a bit of weeding in the garden this morning while Hermione sat in her pram and watched, I think we managed about 20 minutes before she got fed up! Then after school Noel and April planted some seeds. I'm far from green fingered, in fact today is the first bit of gardening I have done since Hermione's arrival in August, but I am working on the assumption that if I do a little bit every day then I can keep on top of it. This is the plan anyway, whether I put it in to practise is another matter ....

Wish me luck!

Aprils First Visit from the Tooth Fairy

Aprils very first tooth came out this morning, I can see the new tooth poking through already! She was a bit upset when it happened but she went off to bed quite happily this evening. She has left the tooth on a flower petal along with a little picture of a Rainbow she has drawn for the Tooth Fairy. Its all so magical and special, its great having a little girl!

I don't even know what I was doing to make them both laugh!

Birthday Fun

I know we always say it but it really doesn't seem like 2 minutes since Noel was born and it certainly doesn't seem like 7 years! It felt very strange (and a little bit sad) not spending his special day with him as it is a school day. He took some goodies into share with his class mates and I did him a special lunchbox (well as special as I could make it without breaking the healthy eating rules!) and he seemed happy enough with that. He did find time to open most of his presents this morning before he went but he still hadn't opened all his cards by bedtime as he was too busy enjoying playing with his presents.

Noel's "Hungry Hippo" cake which I made at 9pm last night after I'd finished blogging. I don't think I'll be putting Jane Asher out of business but Noel enjoyed it and thats all that matters.

It was lovely having Stu home from work, its rare he's home for birthdays/anniversaries so I was really pleased he managed to get home in time for tea and to see Noel blow out his candles.

Noelie opening one of his presents from us (they're not all from us in the photo)

7 years old and not too old for a hug with Kenny (just Mummy it would appear!)

I hope you all have something lovely planned for the weekend. Love from us all xxxxx

Happy Days

After I wrote my last post, Noelie came down with the bug that April had the night before, and I'd had the week before. Thankfully he is now fully recovered and he came home from school on Monday full of beans.

I have been busy sorting a few things out this week. April and Hermione's room is decorated and April went to sleep in there tonight for the first time. Hermione is still in our bedroom as she wakes up through the night and I don't think its fair to disturb April, not to mention the fact that I don't want to walk across the landing several times a night! We just need to get them some furniture now, at the moment the 3 of them share a chest of drawers and I am the only member of the household with my own wardrobe, everyone else shares a makeshift wardrobe in the cupboard where the water boiler used to be (what does that tell you?!)

Noel is 7 tomorrow and I haven't even made his cake yet. I seem to have less time on my hands since he started school than when he was home educated!! April's educated is broken up into 10 minute sessions here and there, it seems to work better than trying to sit down and spend an hour doing something. Not to mention the fact that Mini doesn't like to sleep much during the day so it fits in with her too. Today April has done her "getting ready for Rainbows" booklet where she had to draw some pictures and write a few things about what she likes to do and some reading practise so nothing too taxing!

And finally a few pictures from Sunday, as I've not taken any since!

Batch one of Mini's baby dinners - sweet potato in the ice cube tray and sweet potato and fish in the pots. She generally eats whatever I make her and she has quite a big appetite.

Carrot and raisin muffins. I've found an after school snack is the best way to avoid a grumpy boy.

April playing dress up with Auntie Laura

Mini being cheeky. She is starting to be more playful now, she shakes her head and babbles a lot, and she will spend ages just playing with the label on something. She is very placid most of the time, I think she gets that trait from her Dad, he is a very gentle person too.

And on that note I'd better go and get making a chocolate cake for my little man. He's requested another "Hungry Hippos" cake so nothing too taxing thankfully!

Happy Friday to you all x
