A day out and a first day ...

We went to Oak Farm park to celebrate Samuel and Isaac's first birthday over the weekend. We had a really lovely time, the sun shone and the children all had a great time.

I am not sure who enjoyed the go-karts the most, Hermione or Daddy.

The big 3 had lots of fun on the bouncy castle.

April and Hermione really loved the rabbits and guinea pigs. I keep trying to persuade Stu that we need some but it's not worked so far...

Everyone loved the trampoline.

You may notice that we haven't got any photographs of the animals! That's because Stu went to help the children feed them and he had the camera in his pocket. I think its safe to say though that everyone had a great time and there was lots to do there.

And one of the boys in their batmobiles

And finally, I took Hermione for her very first day at pre-school this morning. She woke up at 6am shouting "Me going to playschool today" and she went off without a tear or a backwards glance this morning. I was expecting to spend the morning with her but she was so happy I came home to a very quiet house (well as quiet as it can be with one year old twins squawking). She is my first child to go to pre-school at 3 and she will be the first child to start school into reception but I think with Noel and April already being there it will help. But that is a worry for another day, today I just want to celebrate the start of her independent journey and enjoy some time playing with Samuel and Isaac...

A very excited Hermione all ready and just bursting to go to to play school. This was taken at 6.22am...

I think that is all the news for now.

Happy 1st Birthday Samuel and Isaac!

Gosh the boy's first year has gone fast! In some ways it feels like it has gone a little bit too fast.  I feel  a bit sad that I won't be having any more babies and I can't remember a great deal about the boy's first year. I do remember the feeling of total and utter exhaustion in the mornings when they were very tiny, and wondering how I would make it through the day. I remember trying lots of different ways to try and feed them at the same time - not an easy feat in the beginning and I remember the first time I took them out in their pram and I felt so, so proud.

I am holding Isaac, Stu is holding Samuel.

And here we are, a year on, the boys now sleep through the night (most of the time!), feeding them is much easier as they can do it themselves mostly now (how much ends up their mouths though is anyone's guess) and of course, I still feel so, so proud when I take them out.

"Blowing out" the candles on their cake

We celebrated with a cream tea and a glass of champagne - and my lovely mum and dad came over. I really couldn't have managed this last year - well last 9 years of motherhood really - without their help and support. You never understand a parents devotion until you are a parent yourself.

Lots of fun has been had today with these batmobiles. I think Noel and April had the most fun of all pushing the boys round.

Lots of helpers when it came to present opening time.

All ready for the cream tea. I made so much mess I think I will just buy the scones next time!

Yummy birthday cake - (not made by me)

Happy Birthday Samuel David Peter x

A big, big thank you to everyone who has helped us out and supported us over this past year. We are very, very grateful.

Happy 3rd Birthday Hermione!

3 years ago today, after a 23 hour labour, our little Hermione was born. She was our smallest baby so far at 6lb 14, which made me decide there and then to nickname her Mini. Every day since she has arrived she has given us so much happiness (although on occasion this has been because she is in bed!) and we are very thankful for our 5 healthy, happy children.

We have had a fabulous day today. Mum came over in the morning and we all went to Bumblebee's soft play, followed by a party lunch back at our house. This afternoon Mum entertained the children in the garden with obstacle courses and races and when they got too tired they came in to play Sylvanian Families and Lego. After tea they managed another hour in the garden before bath and bed. What more could you ask for - it really has been a very, very lovely day.

I made this cake with Noel and April. Too much sugar makes Hermione sick so i decided just to ice round the edges and the number 3. I really enjoyed using my icing set, once I wiped the 6 inches of dust off the tin...

Hermione sat opening her cards at 6am this morning in the kitchen doorway.

Just in case you weren't sure - Hermione with her new little doggy (called Alfie) and her new "3" t-shirt.

Happy Birthday Hermione!!!

Thank you to everyone who has been in touch with birthday wishes, cards and gifts - it is all very appreciated and Hermione has had a lovely day, thank you.

Lots of love, Jem, Stu, Noel, April, Hermione, Samuel and Isaac x x x x x x x

Loving the school holidays!

We are really enjoying the school holidays here in the Wills household, every day seems to be busy doing something or going somewhere and even on the days when the sun hasn't shone (and let's face it, there are plenty of those in Britain!) we haven't felt at a loose end.

Last week Noel went for a sleepover at my mums, he had a great time, and thoroughly enjoyed himself although I did feel rather "lost". While he was there I took April, Hermione, Samuel and Isaac to Calke Abbey - after all I have to make the most of my National Trust membership!

There is a "garden of imagination" set up at Calke Abbey at the moment with lots of activities for the children to do, including a giant knitted toadstool, a life sized beehive and a couple of mazes to run around in.  We also had a lovely picnic lunch outside and a trip to the park. It was a really lovely day, although I missed Noel terribly of course.

I think my mum should get knitting - she does like a challenge!

We also had a trip to Snibston (as we also have an annual ticket) and Isaac found the swing so relaxing he nodded off!!

I can't take any credit for this lovely photo of Hermione, my friend Kate took it on the train at Snibston. Despite how she appears, she did have a lovely time!

We went to the annual Scarecrow Festival at Heather. Its a good day out, lots of fresh air and exercise walking round looking at all the scarecrows. People spend a lot of time making them for us to enjoy. April insisted I took this one for my mum!

In other news, the twins are on the move now! Isaac has got the hang of shuffling around on his bum (what is it with my children, 5 of them and not one of them has ever crawled!!) and Samuel loves to roll over. The only problem is - he can't roll back!!

I decided that during the holidays we should take advantage of the lack of school routine and we have had the big bedroom swap over. Hermione and April are in the box bedroom and Noel, Samuel and Isaac are in the big bedroom. Which means that I finally have my bedroom back (apart from at the weekend when Stuart comes home...) Samuel and Isaac don't seem to be settling as well as usual so I am glad I decided to do it now, they are like a tag team at the minute getting me running up and down the stairs. I will have buns of steel! (A girl can dream!!) The girls room is decorated, with a new wood floor and it looks very cosy and pink. The boy's room isn't decorated yet, although we do have new wooden flooring for them too. So at the minute their room is also pink....

And on that note, Samuel and Isaac are calling me, we are off out on a bike ride/walk now.

Lots of love
